American Federal Reserve member Goolsbee explains the risks of inflation and its impact on policy.

chicago Fed member Austan Goolsbee made the following statements in a radio interview:

The uncertainties may mean that the Federal Reserve needs to be more cautious and prudent regarding the interest rate cut cycle. There are risks that inflation may decline. If financial options impact price levels or employment, we need to consider that. We have seen strong growth and strong consumption. There are concerns about inflation. It will be difficult to discern whether rising prices are a sign of increasing damage to the economy or the effect of one-time tariffs. The Fed may need to slow down the pace of interest rate cuts amid uncertainty.
