Godo has secured a licence from the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC), marking a major step in the broker’s expansion into the European trading market.
The company was founded by Mohamed Ahmed and Ebieraja Alex, two former senior executives from AvaTrade’s Dubai operations. Ahmed previously served as Chief Executive Officer, while Alex held the position of Head of Business Development.
The pair left AvaTrade to establish Godo in 2021, initially launching the brokerage under a regulatory licence in Mauritius while operating from a regional hub in Dubai.
The new CySEC authorization gives Godo a regulated foothold in Europe and allows the company to strengthen its presence in one of the world’s most closely supervised retail trading markets.
Since its launch, Godo has focused on developing its brokerage operations from the Middle East while serving traders through its Mauritius-regulated entity.
The founders’ previous experience at AvaTrade gave them significant exposure to brokerage management, business development, client acquisition, and regional market growth.
With CySEC regulation now added to its structure, Godo is moving into a new phase of international development.
Cyprus remains one of Europe’s key hubs for online trading companies, with CySEC overseeing a large number of investment firms operating under European financial services rules.
For Godo, securing the licence provides an opportunity to build greater credibility with European clients and partners while expanding within a regulated framework.
The move also reflects a broader trend among internationally focused brokers seeking multiple regulatory licences as they expand into new regions.
Operating under a European licence can help brokers strengthen governance, compliance, client protection, and operational standards while giving them access to a more mature and highly regulated financial market.
Godo’s transition from a Mauritius-regulated broker with a Dubai base to a CySEC-authorized participant represents a significant development in the company’s growth strategy.
The licence also highlights the founders’ continued expansion efforts since leaving AvaTrade and launching their own brokerage business in 2021.
With the addition of CySEC regulation, Godo is positioning itself for broader European growth while continuing to build on its existing presence in the Middle East and international trading markets.
