Alya Marrakchi Named Managing Director of GCEX’s VARA-Regulated Dubai Unit

GCEX has promoted Alya Marrakchi to Managing Director of GC Exchange FZE, its Dubai-based digital asset broker-dealer, following approval of the appointment by Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority.

Marrakchi joined GCEX’s sales team in June 2025, focusing on developing institutional relationships across the UAE and wider Gulf region. According to the company, she has since contributed to expanding its regional client base and business pipeline, leading to her elevation to the senior Dubai role.

Before joining GCEX, Marrakchi held business development positions at Hubpay, a cross-border payments company operating in Abu Dhabi, and at Clarify B2B in London. Earlier in her career, she worked with RisKover, a Moody’s Analytics partner focused on financial regulation and risk, where she was involved in the firm’s expansion into Dubai.

In her new position, Marrakchi will lead GC Exchange FZE, GCEX’s Dubai entity serving qualified and institutional investors. The company holds a Virtual Asset Service Provider licence from VARA to provide broker-dealer services in Dubai.

GCEX, founded in 2018, provides digital asset and FX liquidity, prime brokerage and white-label technology to institutional and professional clients. The group also operates across markets including the UK, Denmark and Dubai.

Marrakchi’s promotion is the latest senior leadership move at GCEX’s Dubai business. Earlier this year, the company added Mohammed A. Mulla to the board, while Carmen Tan had previously been appointed Managing Director for the Middle East and North Africa. Finance Magnates noted that GCEX’s latest announcement did not clarify whether Tan’s responsibilities have changed following Marrakchi’s promotion.
