Anchorage Digital has acquired enterprise payments platform Routable, expanding its institutional financial infrastructure by combining regulated digital asset services with global payment technology.
The acquisition marks a strategic move for Anchorage Digital as it seeks to connect traditional financial networks with blockchain-based payment systems, including stablecoins and tokenized deposits. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Routable provides enterprise payment infrastructure that enables businesses to automate transactions, manage recipient verification, and process large-scale payouts across more than 220 countries and territories. Its technology supports payments to suppliers, contractors, creators, and international business partners through automated workflows and developer-focused APIs.
By integrating Routable's capabilities, Anchorage Digital plans to offer institutional clients additional tools for moving funds between conventional banking systems and digital asset infrastructure. The combination is intended to simplify payment operations for enterprises seeking to manage traditional currency transactions alongside blockchain-based financial services.
Anchorage Digital is known for providing institutional cryptocurrency custody, trading, staking, and settlement services. Its subsidiary, Anchorage Digital Bank N.A., operates under a US federal charter, supporting the company's position in the regulated digital asset sector.
The acquisition extends Anchorage Digital's activities into enterprise payment distribution, an area of growing interest as businesses explore alternatives for international settlements and corporate treasury management.
Stablecoins have become an increasingly important area of development within digital finance, particularly as financial institutions investigate their potential to support cross-border transfers and improve settlement efficiency. However, businesses adopting digital payment technologies still require access to conventional payment networks, recipient verification systems, and compliance infrastructure.
Routable's established payout technology could help Anchorage Digital address these requirements by connecting digital asset services with the operational systems businesses already use for international payments.
Nathan McCauley, CEO and Co-Founder of Anchorage Digital, emphasized the company's ambition to develop integrated financial infrastructure connecting traditional and digital asset markets.
Routable CEO and Co-Founder Omri Mor highlighted the potential benefits of combining the company's global payment capabilities with Anchorage Digital's regulated services, creating opportunities to introduce additional financial solutions to enterprise customers.
Following the acquisition, Routable will continue operating as Routable by Anchorage Digital, maintaining its existing services while working toward the introduction of additional integrated offerings.
The transaction comes amid growing institutional interest in stablecoins, blockchain settlement systems, and tokenized financial instruments. Financial institutions and fintech companies are increasingly investing in technologies designed to connect conventional payment infrastructure with emerging digital asset networks.
For Anchorage Digital, acquiring Routable provides access to established global payout capabilities and expands its ability to serve businesses seeking integrated solutions for traditional and blockchain-based transactions.
The deal highlights the continued evolution of institutional cryptocurrency infrastructure as digital asset companies broaden their services to address payment processing, international transfers, and enterprise financial operations.
