India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Healthcare and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.05%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.04%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML), which rose 3.06% or 48.20 points to trade at 1,625.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) added 2.28% or 70.60 points to end at 3,165.50 and Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT) was up 1.70% or 107.90 points to 6,446.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which fell 2.62% or 37.90 points to trade at 1,409.70 at the close. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) declined 1.90% or 5.65 points to end at 291.95 and Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) was down 1.55% or 51.75 points to 3,277.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which rose 2.93% to 1,622.35, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was up 2.22% to settle at 3,164.85 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which gained 1.55% to close at 1,881.20.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 2.64% to 1,409.80 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which lost 1.54% to settle at 3,277.00 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 1.03% to 2,928.95 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1430 to 1047 and 104 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2205 rose and 1591 declined, while 89 ended unchanged.
Shares in Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT) rose to all time highs; rising 1.70% or 107.90 to 6,446.05.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 6.43% to 11.97.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.42% or 11.20 to $2,670.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.67% or 0.46 to hit $67.71 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.59% or 0.42 to trade at $71.28 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.01% to 83.83, while EUR/INR fell 0.42% to 92.94.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 100.83.
