Stocks in Russia closed lower at the end of Friday's trading session, as indices moved downward with losses recorded in the telecommunications, electricity production, and mining sectors.
At the close of trading in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index registered a decline of 0.34%.
Among the leading stocks in the MOEX Russia Index today, PhosAgro PJSC (MCX:PHOR) stood out, increasing by 2.48% or 155.00 points, closing at 6,415.00. Meanwhile, PIK SHb PJSC (MCX:PIKK) continued to rise by 2.30% or 10.30 points, closing at 457.20, while OK Rusal MKPAO (MCX:RUAL) gained 2.20% or 0.73 points, closing at 33.91.
As for the weakest performers at the end of today's session, Moskovskiy Kreditnyi Bank PAO (MCX:CBOM) closed down by 1.04% or 0.10 points at 9.92. ADS Ozon Holdings PLC ORD SHS (MCX:OZONDR) dropped by 0.97% or 30.00 points to 3,070.00, and Moskovskaya Birzha PJSC (MCX:MOEX) closed lower by 0.84% or 1.63 points at 192.45.
The number of stocks that declined exceeded those that rose on the Moscow Exchange, with 135 stocks declining compared to 107 advancing, while 11 remained unchanged.
The Russian Volatility Index – RVI, which measures the implied standard deviation of options on the MOEX Russia Index, traded up by 0.79% and closed at 35.67, marking its highest level for the month.
Gold futures for February delivery fell by 0.80% or 21.24, closing at $2,632.66 per ounce. As for other commodities, WTI crude oil futures for February delivery rose by 0.96% or 0.67, reaching $70.29 per barrel, while March Brent crude oil futures gained 0.82% or 0.60 points, closing at $73.45 per barrel.
The USD/RUB pair gained 6.01%, trading at 105.75, while the EUR/RUB pair continued its rise, increasing by 5.78% to 110.24.
The Dollar Index futures traded lower by 0.09% at 107.80.
