U.S. stock index futures were able to achieve some gains during pre-market trading on Wednesday, amid better-than-expected earnings from U.S. banks during the fourth quarter. However, investors were cautious about a significant rise in earnings as they awaited the release of consumer price inflation data in the United States.

Futures for the Dow Jones industrial average rose by about 0.51% or 217 points to reach 42,969 points. Futures for the S&P 500 climbed by 0.35% or 20.50 points, recording 5,903.00 points. Futures for the Nasdaq 100, heavily weighted in technology stocks, increased by 0.37% or 75.25 points to reach 20,994.25 points.
