Tokyo-based Japanese investment company "Metaplanet" continued to increase its holdings in digital Bitcoin. The company announced today that it has added 269.43 Bitcoins to its portfolio, bringing its total to 2031.41 Bitcoins. In its latest disclosure, the company stated that it purchased 269.43 Bitcoins at an average price of 14,846,322 yen per Bitcoin, equivalent to approximately $25.8 million. Thus, Metaplanet now owns 2,031.41 Bitcoins, acquired at an average price of 12,243,936 yen per Bitcoin. This move is part of Metaplanet's strategy to strengthen its position as a major player in the cryptocurrency market. The company aims to increase its Bitcoin holdings to 10,000 by the end of 2025, and then to 21,000 by the end of 2026. In January, Metaplanet unveiled a strategy to continue purchasing Bitcoin. The company stated it would issue 21 million new subscription rights at a 0% discount to attract 116 billion yen (approximately $745 million). According to Metaplanet, this would represent one of the largest Bitcoin purchases in the history of Asian markets. Regarding trading, Bitcoin's price experienced a decline of 1.24%, trading at $96,119. However, trading volume rose by 28.8% to reach $20.2 billion, indicating increased investor interest. This suggests that positive market momentum could lead to a recovery in the price of the leading cryptocurrency.
