SIX Appoints André Helfenstein as New Chairman Effective January 1, 2026

SIX, the Swiss financial market infrastructure provider, has announced the appointment of André Helfenstein as its new Chairman of the Board of Directors, effective January 1, 2026.

With more than 90 years of experience, SIX plays a vital role in connecting the financial markets to the real economy. The company provides services across securities trading, financial information, and payments, serving a broad international client base. Its stable and efficient infrastructure supports the competitiveness of the Swiss and Spanish financial centers.

SIX employs approximately 4,000 people across 19 countries on five continents. Through continuous innovation across the value chain, the company enables financial institutions to accelerate growth, reduce costs, and focus on their core business, while benefiting from reliable and secure services.

Measured by free float, SIX — together with the Swiss and Spanish stock exchanges — is the third-largest exchange group in Europe by market capitalization, underlining its strong position in the European financial market infrastructure landscape.

André Helfenstein has been a member of the SIX Board of Directors since 2020 and brings extensive national and international leadership experience to his new role. From 2020 to 2024, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Credit Suisse (Switzerland) Ltd., where he was responsible for the group’s Swiss business.

Since joining Credit Suisse in 2007, he held several senior management positions across private, corporate, and institutional client businesses.

Prior to his time at Credit Suisse, Helfenstein spent more than a decade at Boston Consulting Group, where he served as Partner and Managing Director. He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of St. Gallen.

As previously announced in May 2025, current Chairman Thomas Wellauer has decided not to stand for re-election at the 2026 Annual General Meeting. Wellauer has served as Chairman of SIX since 2020 and will hand over the role to André Helfenstein at the end of 2025.

To ensure a smooth and structured transition, Thomas Wellauer will remain a member of the Board of Directors until the Annual General Meeting on May 6, 2026.

The appointment reflects SIX’s commitment to strong leadership, continuity, and long-term value creation as the company continues to support financial markets through innovation, security, and operational excellence.
