SGX FX Expands Integration with BlackRock’s Aladdin to Streamline Institutional Currency Trading

Singapore Exchange's foreign exchange division, SGX FX, has announced an expanded integration between its BidFX trading platform and BlackRock's Aladdin investment management technology, aiming to simplify currency trading workflows for institutional investors.

The development, announced on October 15, strengthens existing connectivity between the two platforms and enables mutual clients to access BidFX's foreign exchange pricing, execution and analytical capabilities through connected Aladdin workflows.

The integration brings portfolio management and currency execution processes closer together, allowing institutional market participants to manage investment decisions and related FX transactions more efficiently.

BidFX provides access to liquidity sources, execution tools and real-time analytics, while Aladdin supports portfolio management, investment operations and risk assessment for financial institutions.

Jean-Philippe Malé, Chief Executive Officer of SGX FX, highlighted growing institutional demand for closer connections between currency execution and the systems used to manage portfolios and risk.

BlackRock's Global Head of Aladdin Enterprise Partnerships, Kamya Somasundaram, also emphasised the importance of improving connectivity between investment and execution workflows.

The expanded relationship reflects a broader shift in institutional foreign exchange markets toward integrated platforms, automation and improved access to liquidity.

For asset managers and other institutional investors, the development is intended to reduce operational friction while providing greater control and visibility throughout the foreign exchange trade lifecycle.
