CMC Markets (LON:CMCX) has appointed James McMaster as Head of Marketing ANZ

The appointment comes as CMC Markets continues to invest in its ANZ operations, a region considered central to the firm’s long-term growth strategy. With increasing competition in online trading and financial services, the company is placing greater emphasis on differentiated marketing, digital innovation, and localized strategies tailored to evolving client needs.

McMaster joins CMC Markets from outside the traditional brokerage sector, bringing a diverse background that spans recruitment, fintech, and gaming. He offers a blend of B2B and B2C marketing expertise developed through senior roles at global organizations including Hays, Adzuna, Wonga, Paysafe, and Sportingbet. He also previously held a digital marketing role at ThinkMarkets, providing him with direct exposure to the trading and brokerage landscape.

Throughout his career, McMaster has led multi-channel marketing strategies, overseen brand repositioning initiatives, and driven customer acquisition programs across highly competitive and regulated industries. His cross-sector experience is expected to support CMC Markets’ ambition to further enhance its market positioning in ANZ while strengthening client relationships through data-driven and performance-focused campaigns.

In his new role, McMaster will oversee the development and execution of integrated marketing strategies across Australia and New Zealand, working closely with regional leadership and global teams. His remit includes brand development, digital performance marketing, partnerships, and customer lifecycle management, aligning marketing initiatives with the company’s broader commercial objectives.

CMC Markets has maintained a long-standing presence in Australia, where it operates under a well-established regulatory framework and serves a growing base of active traders and investors. The ANZ region remains a key market for the firm, supported by increasing retail participation in financial markets and rising demand for sophisticated trading platforms.

McMaster’s appointment signals the company’s commitment to bringing fresh perspectives into its leadership team while maintaining a strong understanding of the regulatory and competitive dynamics of the brokerage industry. His background in both high-growth fintech environments and consumer-focused businesses is expected to contribute to innovative marketing approaches that resonate with a broad client base.
