Marex has appointed Robert Cheeseman as Head of Prime Services Asia, strengthening its leadership in the region as the firm continues to expand its prime brokerage and outsourced trading business. The appointment was announced on September 7, 2026.
Based in Hong Kong, Cheeseman brings more than 25 years of experience across listed derivatives, prime services and electronic trading, with extensive knowledge of Asia-Pacific markets.
More Than Two Decades Across Major Financial Institutions
Before joining Marex, Cheeseman served as Managing Director and Co-Head of Client Development at Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX), where he focused on client development and supporting the exchange group’s international growth.
Earlier, he spent almost four years at Credit Suisse as Managing Director and Head of APAC Prime Derivatives Services, leading teams across Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo and Mumbai.
His previous experience also includes senior roles at Morgan Stanley, where he led APAC cross-asset listed derivatives execution, as well as nearly a decade at Goldman Sachs across electronic trading in London and listed derivatives sales and trading in Hong Kong.
Focus on Prime Brokerage Growth in Asia
In his new role, Cheeseman will oversee Marex’s Prime Services business across Asia, with a focus on growing the firm’s prime brokerage and outsourced trading offering.
He will work with hedge funds, asset managers, family offices and institutional investors across the region, while collaborating with Marex’s global and regional leadership teams to shape the division’s wider growth strategy.
Marex said Asia represents an important growth market for its Prime Services business, with increasing demand from institutional clients for infrastructure, execution capabilities and high-touch regional support.
Cheeseman’s appointment adds significant regional experience to Marex as the group looks to deepen client relationships and expand its institutional prime services offering across Asian markets.
