Liquidnet Launches SuperBlock TI to Enhance Large-Order Liquidity Discovery

Liquidnet has launched SuperBlock Targeted Invitations (TI), a new liquidity-discovery solution designed to help institutional investors identify counterparties for exceptionally large equity orders while giving buy-side traders greater control over how their trading interest is distributed.

The new offering expands Liquidnet’s existing Targeted Invitations functionality and is aimed at transactions where sourcing sufficient liquidity can be particularly challenging. SuperBlock TI enables traders to determine which counterparties receive an invitation, when it is sent and how much information about the underlying order is disclosed.

Each invitation is supported by a live client order, providing recipients with an actionable indication of genuine trading interest. The structure is intended to improve the chances of matching large orders while limiting unnecessary information leakage and reducing potential market impact.

The launch addresses a persistent challenge in institutional equity trading, where executing substantial positions can become difficult without revealing intentions to the broader market. Large orders can influence prices when exposed too early, making controlled liquidity discovery an important part of the execution process for asset managers and other institutional participants.

Liquidnet said SuperBlock TI combines targeted distribution with configurable disclosure, allowing traders to adjust how much order information is shared depending on their execution strategy. The approach gives the buy side greater flexibility when seeking liquidity for positions that may be significantly larger than typical market activity.

The product builds on Liquidnet’s global institutional network, which connects more than 1,100 member firms. The company reports approximately $110 billion in global resting daily liquidity across its network, providing a substantial pool from which participants can seek potential counterparties.

SuperBlock TI also reflects the continued development of electronic execution tools designed to give institutional traders more control over liquidity discovery. As markets become increasingly electronic, trading venues and technology providers are focusing on solutions that balance access to liquidity with discretion and execution quality.

For Liquidnet, the launch strengthens its suite of block-trading and liquidity-discovery tools while expanding the options available to institutional investors handling unusually large equity transactions.
