Futures contracts for U.S. stock indices – for delivery in March – recorded a significant decline ahead of the opening of the session on Monday, as the trade war intensified after the United States imposed a 25% tariff on certain goods imported from Canada and Mexico. This prompted both countries to respond with similar measures against the United States.
The performance of U.S. stock index futures was as follows:
Dow Jones Industrial Average futures contracts settled near the level of 44,109.00 points, with a decrease of about 1.32%, losing approximately 589.00 points. Nasdaq 100 futures contracts fell sharply by approximately 1.70% or about 366.50 points, to 21,222.75 points. S&P 500 futures contracts recorded a decline of about 1.45%, reaching the level of 5,978.50 points.
