Interactive Brokers Introduces Autonomous Trading, Enabling AI to Execute Client-Authorized Trades

Interactive Brokers (NASDAQ: IBKR) has introduced IBKR Autonomous Trading, a new capability that enables eligible clients to authorize connected artificial intelligence platforms to identify investment opportunities and execute supported trades based on predefined instructions.

The technology allows connected AI systems to monitor more than 75,000 listed stocks, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and options across global markets. Clients can establish trading criteria, portfolio limits, and risk-management safeguards using natural-language instructions.

The service operates through a dedicated AI Partition, allowing investors to allocate funds from their existing brokerage accounts without opening a separate account. Once authorized, connected AI can monitor market conditions and submit eligible orders without requiring individual approval for every transaction.

Interactive Brokers CEO Milan Galik described the introduction as an extension of the company's longstanding focus on automation and investor control.

The launch represents a significant development in AI-powered trading, moving beyond investment research and analysis toward automated order execution under client-defined parameters. Availability remains subject to regulatory, geographic, and account eligibility requirements.
