Western Union Partners With Noah to Expand Global Stablecoin Payments Network

Western Union has selected stablecoin infrastructure provider Noah to support a global blockchain-based payments network aimed at improving the speed and efficiency of international money transfers.

Under the partnership, Noah will provide the underlying on-chain infrastructure for Western Union's Receiver Redirect service, enabling transfers involving more than 60 currencies across over 200 countries and territories.

The planned service will use USDPT, Western Union's US dollar-backed stablecoin issued by Anchorage Digital Bank on the Solana blockchain.

The initiative is intended to connect conventional fiat payment systems with stablecoin infrastructure, allowing eligible customers to access new ways of receiving and managing international transfers.

Western Union's extensive global network and Noah's blockchain payment technology are expected to support the development of faster and potentially lower-cost remittance services.

The announcement highlights the increasing role of stablecoins in mainstream financial services, as established payment providers explore blockchain infrastructure for cross-border transactions and settlement. The companies have announced the infrastructure partnership, while broader customer availability remains subject to rollout.
