OPEC+ Keeps December Oil Production Targets Unchanged Amid Market Uncertainty

OPEC+ has decided to maintain its oil production targets for December 2026, reinforcing its cautious approach to managing global crude supplies amid continuing market uncertainty and regional supply disruptions.

The decision was reached during a virtual meeting on Sunday involving seven participating countries: Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria and Oman.

According to the official OPEC statement, the producers agreed to maintain their September 2026 required production levels through December, extending the group's existing production policy.

The move follows a series of adjustments earlier this year, including the completion of the phased reversal of 1.65 million barrels per day in previous voluntary production cuts.

However, actual production and export flows remain affected by regional disruptions, leaving several producers operating below their permitted levels.

The decision comes at a critical moment for international energy markets, where traders are closely monitoring supply availability, oil inventories and geopolitical risks.

Keeping production targets unchanged provides greater clarity about OPEC+'s immediate policy intentions. Nevertheless, actual oil supplies could remain volatile depending on export conditions and the recovery of disrupted production.

For commodity traders, the distinction between official output targets and barrels reaching the market remains particularly important when assessing crude oil prices.

Attention now turns to the next OPEC+ meeting scheduled for November 29, when producers are expected to continue discussing market conditions and future production arrangements.

The upcoming discussions could offer further indications of how the group intends to approach oil supply management in 2027.
