Global online trading provider Capital.com has officially entered the Singapore market after securing a Capital Markets Services (CMS) licence from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), while appointing experienced financial executive Tony Lim as Chief Executive Officer of its local operations.
The licence, granted to Capital Com Securities (Singapore) Pte. Ltd., authorises the company to deal in capital markets products, including securities, collective investment schemes, and over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives such as contracts for difference (CFDs). The company is also authorised to provide custodial services.
The expansion establishes Singapore as Capital.com's first regulated base in Southeast Asia, supporting its broader strategy of entering new markets through local regulatory approvals and strengthening its international brokerage presence.
Tony Lim brings more than 30 years of financial markets experience, having previously served as CEO of IG Asia for nine years. His career also includes senior roles at Singapore Exchange, DBS Vickers Securities, Saxo Capital Markets, and the Singapore International Monetary Exchange.
Under Lim's leadership, Capital.com plans to establish a locally regulated trading operation focused on investor protection, market education, and transparent access to financial instruments.
The broker expects to begin onboarding Singapore clients in early 2027, with preparations underway to implement local compliance procedures, identity verification through Singpass MyInfo, and enhanced account security measures.
Capital.com has also opened an office at 9 Battery Road in Singapore's Raffles Place financial district, bringing together teams covering compliance, operations, client services, and marketing.
The Singapore launch represents another milestone in Capital.com's international expansion as the broker continues to strengthen its regulatory footprint and compete with established trading providers across global financial markets.
